The Philippines government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) have reached an agreement on the Annex on Power Sharing, paving the way for the signing of the final annex in 2014 and bringing them closer to ending violence that has claimed thousands of lives.
In a December 8 statement, Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Teresita Deles said the panels between the two sides reached the deal at their peace talks in Malaysia, which ensures the establishment of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Earlier, Manila and MILF struck a compromise on sharing local power and resources with a Muslim self-rule area in the Mindanao region in October last year.
Recently, both sides inked an interest-sharing deal in the south, under which, they agreed to an equal sharing of revenue sourced from energy while MILF was allowed to enjoy 75 percent of total income from natural resources and mineral.-VNA
