PM attends Lee Kuan Yew’s funeral

PM Nguyen Tan Dung attended the funeral for former Singaporean PM Lee Kuan Yew on March 29.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung joined many State and government leadersfrom other countries at the State funeral for former Singaporean PrimeMinister Lee Kuan Yew on March 29.

Writing onthe funeral book, Prime Minister Dung extended the deepest sympathy tothe People’s Action Party, State, Government and people of Singaporeand Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s family in particular.

He said Lee Kuan Yew is a prominent leader and strategist of notonly Singapore but also the world, and a close friend of Vietnamesepeople.

The Vietnamese leader expressed hishope that the former Prime Minister’s heritage will be preserved bygenerations of Singaporean people.

Later onthe day, Prime Minister Dung met briefly with Singaporean President TonyTan and leaders of ASEAN countries and other nations who were inSingapore for the funeral.

Lee Kuan Yewpassed away early on March 23 at the age of 91. He was the foundingPrime Minister of Singapore and father of the current Prime MinisterLee Hsien Loong. He has been widely credited with turning Singaporeinto one of the most affluent economies in Asia within threedecades.-VNA

To further strengthen Vietnam-Belgium relations, especially parliamentary cooperation, both sides agreed to enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, particularly between parliamentary committees and friendship groups.
