Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has stated that he believes more investment in education is essential.

At the start of the 2012-2013 academic year at Le Hong Phong School for Gifted Students in Ho Chi Minh City on September 4, Dung said that the Government will do its best to facilitate children’s studies.

The Party and State always consider education and training a top national policy in its sustainable development strategy and a decisive factor in ensuring the success of the national industrialisation and modernisation, he stressed.

Dung underlined that this is the second year under the Resolution of the 11th National Party Congress to develop education during the 2011-2020 period.

Putting together a labour force of top-quality trained workers and focusing on renovating the nation’s education system are a strategic breakthrough in national development, he said.

He asked the education sector to upgrade its curricula and teaching and learning methodologies, raise the efficiency of management in education and invest more in building educational facilities.

Thanks to a great effort made by the whole nation, Vietnam achieved universal primary education in 2000 and junior secondary school education in 2010.

It is currently attempting to ensure a place at nursery school for every child under the age of five./.
