Tianjin (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held a meeting with his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong on the sidelines of the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Tianjin, China, on June 25.

PM Chinh affirmed that Vietnamese ministries and agencies are actively implementing the outcomes of the recent high-level visits between the two countries. A key focus is the swift development of an action plan for implementing the Vietnam-Singapore comprehensive strategic partnership in the 2025–2030 period.

To generate new momentum for Vietnam’s economic growth, the Vietnamese leader called on Singapore to deepen cooperation in promising sectors such as digital economy, green economy, and international financial centre development. He also suggested opening more Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs) in Vietnam to include smart urban areas and digital commerce, along with enhancing support for the training of high-quality human resources for Vietnam in both short and long terms.

PM Wong agreed with PM Chinh’s proposals on measures to strengthen bilateral relations in the future, especially the prompt signing of an action plan for implementing the two countries' comprehensive strategic partnership, and the launch of upgraded VSIPs to include hi-tech parks, urban areas, and commercial zones.

He also expressed his hope to actively cooperate with Vietnam in rice import to ensure food security for his country.

The two PMs agreed to further reinforce their countries' cooperation in various fields, including expanding Party-to-Party collaboration, and promoting bilateral economic, trade, and investment ties, especially in high technology, renewable energy, wind power export, carbon credit exchange, smart infrastructure, sustainable urban development, and cybersecurity.

They also reached a consensus on maintaining and enhancing the effectiveness of existing cooperation mechanisms between the two countries while believing that with strong determination and efforts by both sides, the bilateral relationship will be elevated to a new height.

The two sides also exchanged views on several regional and international issues of mutual concern. In the context of increasingly complex and unpredictable developments, they agreed to continue close coordination in maintaining ASEAN unity and building a strong ASEAN Community for peace, stability, and the common interests of the region.

On this occasion, PM Chinh conveyed State President Luong Cuong’s invitation to the President of Singapore to attend the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, to be held in Hanoi in October 2025./.
