PM receives diplomats attending East Asia Summit

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hosted a reception
in Hanoi on October 27 for ambassadors and charges d'affaires attending the 16th East Asia Summit (EAS).
The reception took place before the
PM attended the EAS via videoconference.
The PM briefed diplomats about
Vietnam’s achievements in the fight against COVID-19, saying that Vietnam has
basically overcome difficulties and gradually switched to flexible adaptation
for socio-economic development.
He affirmed that Vietnam consistently pursues the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralisation
of relations; active and proactive international integration; being a
friend, a trustworthy partner and an active and responsible member of
international community.
Vietnam always attaches importance to
promoting friendship and cooperation with countries, joining hands to maintain
an environment of peace and stability for development, stepping up multilateral
cooperation and global integration for a green and clean world with
sustainable, inclusive and more humanitarian development, he said.
The PM suggested ambassadors
and charges d'affaires uphold their active role and help Vietnam meet its goal of becoming a
developing country with modern industry and upper-middle income by 2030, and a
high-income developed nation by 2045, thus making active contributions to peace,
stability and prosperity in the region and the world.
As a representative
of Chair of ASEAN and EAS 2021, Ambassador of Brunei to Vietnam Pengiran Sahari
Pengiran Salleh affirmed to work with ambassadors and charges d'affaires of EAS member states to partner with Vietnam’s efforts to cope with the pandemic,
making practical contributions to peace, stability, development and prosperity
in the region in line with goal of the EAS./.
