PM urges Vietnam, China to promote trade ties

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has stressed the potential for cooperation between Vietnam and China, urging the two countries to jointly ease difficulties and to continue promoting cooperation in economics, trade and investment.

He affirmed Vietnam’s efforts to join with China to further develop the bilateral cooperation and friendship while receiving Chinese Minister of Commerce Chan Deming in Hanoi on August 23.

Two-way trade between Vietnam and China was 20 billion USD in 2009, and reached 13 billion in the first seven months of this year. The figure is expected to reach 25 billion for the whole year, the PM said.

Results from bilateral cooperation in economics, trade and investment made a contribution to promoting cooperative ties in all areas between Vietnam and China, he added.

He said the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership is developing strongly and providing benefits for each country.

Minister Chen expressed his wish that the Vietnamese government facilitate efforts by Chinese investors to seek opportunities for cooperation and promote investment cooperation activities in Vietnam.

The Minister said he hoped Vietnam in its capacity as ASEAN 2010 Chair would support and assist China to expand cooperation in all areas with other ASEAN member countries./.
