PM: Workers’ difficulties must be resolved

Difficulties relating to the employment and life of workers must be resolved in a timely manner, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung at a meeting on Feb. 27 with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour.

Addressing the meeting, Dung hailed great contributionsby the workers and trade unions of all levels to the country’ssocio-economic development in 2012.

The coordinationbetween the government and the confederation last year was very closeand effective, Dung noted, stressing that the mechanism should befurther strengthened in 2013.

The considerable reductionof labour disputes and strikes (down 44 percent against 2011) was anoutcome of the smooth coordination of the two sides..

Also atthe meeting, the PM and leaders of ministries and agencies gave opinionson proposals by the confederation, which focused on policies on workersand trade unions, labour safety and hygiene, and the building ofcultural life for workers in industrial zones. -VNA

Vietnam, China step up theoretical exchanges, share Party-building experience

During his working visit to China, Nguyen Xuan Thang, member of the 13th Party Central Committee's Political Bureau and Chairman of the Central Theory Council, had a meeting with Li Shulei, Politburo member, Secretary of the CPC Central Committee’s Secretariat, and Head of the CPC Central Committee’s Publicity Department, during which the two sides held in-depth discussions on theoretical research, practical reviews and Party building, and agreed to further strengthen cooperation and experience sharing between the two Parties.

A key proposal raised during the meetings was the early establishment of a direct air route linking Vietnam with Darwin. The route is expected to facilitate travel as well as trade, investment, education and tourism ties, while further promoting people-to-people exchanges.

Vietnam, Russia seek stronger cooperation in policy research, training

Head of the Committee's Commission for Policies and Strategies Nguyen Thanh Nghi expressed appreciation for the RANEPA and its predecessor institutions for their contributions to training and fostering Vietnamese officials.
