Lawmakers approve two important resolutions

Hanoi (VNA) –
The 14th NationalAssembly passed a resolution approving Vietnam’s accession to Convention 98 ofthe International Labour Organisation (ILO) and another on the establishment ofa thematic supervision delegation of the NA in 2020.

Under the resolution approvingVietnam’s accession to the ILO’s Convention 98 concerning theApplication of the Principles of the Right to Organise and CollectiveBargaining, which was adopted with 93.39 percent of votes, Vietnam will applythe entire content of the convention.

The NA assigns the Government, the Supreme People’sCourt, the Supreme People’s Procuracy, the Vietnam General Confederation ofLabour and related organisations and agencies to review stipulations inAppendix 2 of the Labour Code and other relevant legal documents with a view totimely amending, supplementing them or issue new ones to ensure the consistencyof the legal system and to realise commitments under Convention 98.

The Government is to instructrelevant ministries and agencies to complete procedures for joining theconvention and define the point the convention takes effect for Vietnam in linewith the convention’s stipulation.

Meanwhile, the resolution on theestablishment of a thematic supervision delegation of the NA in 2020 wentthrough the legislature with 91.53 percent of votes.  

The NA appointed NA ViceChairman Uong Chu Luu to be head of the delegation, along with three deputyheads.

The resolution requires thedelegation to report the supervision outcomes to the NA Standing Committee at thecommittee’s meeting in April 2020, and to the NA at the 9th sessionin May 2020.

Earlier, the NA approved threelaws, which are the Law on Execution of Criminal Judgments, the revised Law onEducation, and the Law on Amending, Supplementing A Number of Articles of theLaw on Insurance Business and the Law on Intellectual Property.

The NA’s 7th sessionis to conclude later the same day.-VNA

Vietnam eyes stronger cooperation with Russia

Foreign policy contributes to propelling Vietnam into new era

2024 saw Vietnam significantly expanding its diplomatic activities with numerous partners and at various important multilateral forums and mechanisms. The country’s key leaders conducted a total of 60 external activities, including paying 21 visits to foreign countries and attend major multilateral conferences, as well as hosting 25 delegations of foreign leaders to Vietnam.
