Hanoi (VNA) – President Vo Van Thuong hosteda reception in Hanoi on April 20 for Thongsavanh Phomvihane, head of the LaoPeople's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee’s Commission for ExternalRelations.

Thuong expressed his belief that ThongsavanhPhomvihane’s visit, the first in his new position, will contribute tostrengthening cooperation between the Commissions for External Relations of thetwo Parties, thus raising the efficiency of comprehensive collaboration betweenthe two Parties and countries in the time ahead.

The Lao official told his host that the two commissionshave maintained regular delegation exchanges, and given consultations to Vietnameseand Lao agencies in organising activities during the Vietnam-Laos, Laos-VietnamSolidarity and Friendship Year 2022.

The two sides have agreed on a cooperation plan forthis year, and will discuss issues of shared concern as well as cooperationorientations in the time ahead, he said.

He said the two commissions will foster theircooperation across spheres, work harder to perform their role as advisors to Partyand State leaders, and better implement agreements reached by the two Parties,States and peoples.

Thuong appreciated the support of the Lao Party, Stateand people to their Vietnamese counterparts in national construction anddefence, and emphasised that the warm sentiments and close ties between them have created animportant foundation for the two countries to overcome challenges.

The leader also spoke highly of the commissions’ advisoryrole in cooperation between the two Parties, particularly in the implementation oftheir agreements, and urged them to step up the exchange of experience in allfields and support each other at regional and global forums./.

Foreign policy contributes to propelling Vietnam into new era

2024 saw Vietnam significantly expanding its diplomatic activities with numerous partners and at various important multilateral forums and mechanisms. The country’s key leaders conducted a total of 60 external activities, including paying 21 visits to foreign countries and attend major multilateral conferences, as well as hosting 25 delegations of foreign leaders to Vietnam.
