Party official pays working visit to RoK to seek closer ties

Seoul (VNA) - A high-ranking delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), led by Politburo member and Chairman of the CPV Central Committee’sEconomic Commission Tran Tuan Anh paid a working visit to the Republic of Korea(RoK) from October 23-25.

Whilein the RoK, Anh held working sessions with Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yoo In-chon, Mayor ofBusan city Park Heong-joon, First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Chang Ho-jin,and First Vice Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Youngjin Jang.

PM Hansaid over the past three decades, ties between Vietnam and the RoK have beengrowing robustly, quickly and actively. The RoK is now the biggest investor andthe third largest trading partner of Vietnam.

TheRoK is a reliable companion of Vietnam, he said, adding that it supportsVietnam's goal to become a developed country by 2045. The RoK is ready to workclosely with Vietnam in various fields and assist the country in improving sci-techcapability and human resources quality to achieve its development goals, the PM added.

The other RoKofficials expressed their delight at the establishment of RoK-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership and said Vietnam has become an attractive investment destination forKorean enterprises and a preferred tourist destination for many Koreans. Theyexpressed their desire to closely partner with the Vietnamese Party, Government,ministries, sectors and localities to further deepen and enhance the quality ofcooperation and exchanges between the two countries.

For his part, Anh affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and Government always treasure and want to promote its comprehensive strategic partnership with the RoK.

On thefoundation of the fine bilateral relationship, high political trust, extensive andclose people-to-people ties and shared strategic goals, he wished that the RoKGovernment, ministries and big corporations would continue with closecooperation with and support for Vietnam to develop such key sectors asinformation technology, electronics, marine economy, shipbuilding, and maritimetransport.

He suggested both sides enhance cultural and sports collaboration to further elevatethe image and position of each country, spreading the positive values of eachnation in the region and on the international stage.

The official asked theVietnamese Embassy and business community continue building on their pastachievements, helping to elevate the bilateral relationship to be commensurate withthe framework of the Vietnam-RoK comprehensive strategic partnership./.

Foreign policy contributes to propelling Vietnam into new era

2024 saw Vietnam significantly expanding its diplomatic activities with numerous partners and at various important multilateral forums and mechanisms. The country’s key leaders conducted a total of 60 external activities, including paying 21 visits to foreign countries and attend major multilateral conferences, as well as hosting 25 delegations of foreign leaders to Vietnam.
