Preparations for Hue Festival get final touch

During his fact-finding tour of the main venuein the imperial city of Hue on April 10, Thien underlined securityand order at this year’s event, which is expected to welcome a largenumber of domestic and foreign delegations and visitors.

He also asked the organising board to better arrange areas for foreign guests and reporters.

The installation of nine stages with capacities from 500 – 2,000 seatsis underway. Notably, areas in front of the stages for the opening andclosing ceremonies can serve up to 6,000 and 4,000 people, respectively.

This year, the festival will highlight Nha Nhac,the royal court music of Hue , which has been named by UNESCO as anIntangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It will also feature an Ao daishow and exhibitions depicting Hue kite flying, calligraphy, fooddemos and street performance, among others.

Special performances by 68 arts troupes with 1,400 artists and instrumentalists across the globe will also be offered.

The organising board has publicised the festival’s schedule to help visitors easily follow the event.

Themed “Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development”, thefestival will also include an East Asia-Latin America cultural exchangeforum held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the ASEAN+3Ministerial Meeting on Culture and Fine Arts.

The 2014 Hue Festival is expected to attract 200,000 visitors, half of them will be foreigners.-VNA

Da Nang to replace 1,140 dilapidated houses by May 2025

The total budget for the project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing in Da Nang this year is estimated at 47.4 billion VND (1.85 billion USD). Of this, 30.3 billion VND will be sourced from the state budget, while the remainder from the for the poor fund and other fundraising efforts.

Nearly 9,000 blood units collected at red spring festival

First launched in 2008 to address post-Tet blood shortages, the festival expanded nationwide in 2010 under the direction of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign. Over 17 editions, the festival has attracted hundreds of thousands of donors across the nation, with the Hanoi event – hosted by the institute – collecting nearly 120,000 blood units.
