Hanoi (VNA) – President Tran Dai Quangleft Hanoi on June 26 morning for a six-day trip to Belarus and Russia.

The June 26-28 visit to the Republic of Belarus,his first stop, comes at the invitation of Belarusian President AlexanderLukashenko.

Based on the reinforced political-diplomaticrelationship as well as improved cooperation in other fields between the twocountries, Vietnam views this visit as being of great importance.

Two-way trade reached 94.5 million USD in 2016and 37.7 million USD in the first quarter of 2017. Vietnam mainly exportsseafood, garment-textile, woodwork, footwear, rice, natural rubber, peanut,cashew, tea, medicine, and computers, while importing fertiliser, machines,automobile spare parts, tractors, vans and chemicals.

Vietnam and Belarus are working closely withinthe framework of the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the EurasianEconomic Union (EAEU).

Labour partnership is considered a prospect forthe two nations’ cooperation. Both sides also look forward to strengtheningcollaboration in other fields such as security-defence, health care, education,science-technology, culture, information, sports and tourism.

After wrapping up the Belarus visit, PresidentQuang will pay an official visit to Russia from June 28 to July 1 at theinvitation of President Vladimir Putin.-VNA
