An exhibition and a seminar on Uncle Ho were held at the Pridi Phanomyong Institute in Bangkok, Thailand, on May 16.

The events, which drew the participation of a number of Thai and Vietnamese scholars and researchers on President Ho Chi Minh’s life and cause, highlighted the simple life of Uncle Ho and a great Vietnamese and international culturist.

President of the Thailand-Vietnam Culture Association Lae Dilokvidhyarat and Minister Counsellor of the Vietnamese embassy in Thailand Pham Minh Tuan pointed out the significance of these events, saying that they took place when Vietnam is conducting various activities to celebrate the 120 th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh – a preeminent leader and a great father of the Vietnamese people and a great friend of peace and justice lovers in the world.

At the seminar, a lecturer from Chulalongkorn University and Prof. Dr. Bui Dinh Phong from Social Sciences and Humanities University of Ha Noi National University spoke of Uncle Ho’s simplicity in his daily life and Nguyen Thi Thu Ha from the Ho Chi Minh Museum spoke of Uncle Ho’s sentiments towards Thai country and people.

A film on President Ho Chi Minh’s life was screened and a painting and book exhibitions on President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam were organised at the exhibition.

The Paxaxon (People’s) newspaper of Laos on May 14 and 17 printed an article on President Ho Chi Minh’s revolutionary morality written by Munkeo Olabun, a member of the Laos People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and Lao Minister of Information and Culture.

“On the occasion of the President Ho Chi Minh’s 120 th birthday, we will study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s revolutionary moral example and consider the study to be an obligation for all officials and Party members,” said Munkeo Olabun in his article.

Another article on Uncle Ho on the May issue of the Mexican magazine “Attractive news” highlighted Uncle Ho as one of the main figures of the modern world history.

The writer emphasised Uncle Ho’s great contributions to Vietnam ’s revolutionary cause and the world’s communist movement which were manifested in national independence and freedom from the French colonialists for Vietnam .

The writer also confirmed that President Ho Chi Minh is not only a brilliant politician but also a great culturist and famous poet.

Meanwhile, in Russia , the Vietnam Days opened in Vladivostok city on May 17 on the occasion of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday.

President of the Primorie chapter of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association Alexander Sokolovski said that Vladivostok city will organise a meeting to mark President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday on May 19.

Within the framework of the Vietnam Days, people in Vladivostok city will have a chance to see paintings, embroideries and porcelains on Vietnam ’s culture and history at an exhibition entitled “Exploring Vietnam”, Sokolovski said.

The Daltour travel agency will organise an annual exhibition on Vietnam ’s culture and economic development and its landscapes and famous tourism spots, he said.

Sokolovski said the Vietnam Days have been held in Vladivostok city over the past decade. The Far East region also holds a celebration every year to mark the birthday of President Ho Chi Minh who came to the region many times in the 1920s and 1930s./.
