President Truong Tan Sang on February 11 toured the Hanoi southern supporting industrial park (Hanssip), the first-ever large-scale complex of industrial hubs and urban services specialising in the auxiliary industry in Vietnam, in the outlying district of Phu Xuyen.
With site clearance concluded and an infrastructure ramp-up in progress, Hanssip sprawls over 640 hectares and plans to expand a further 2,000 hectares in the southern gateway to the capital – a strategic area lying between Phap Van – Cau Gie highway and National Road 1A.
The visit came as the country sticks steadfast to opening support industrial zones on the path towards industrialisation and modernisation, striving to become a modern-orientated industrialised nation by 2020.
Holding a working session with the municipal authorities and several business owners following the tour, President Sang said with a number of trade agreements in force in the future, Vietnam stands in the face of huge opportunities as well as challenges.
The economy needs to quickly transform itself from a sub-contractor to a manufacturer if it is to integrate into regional and world economies, he noted.
Hailing the ongoing construction of infrastructure, President Sang asked for all possible support to put Hanssip into operation as soon as possible, including taxation mechanisms.
He also took the occasion to ask the city to focus on infrastructure ramp-up, human resources development and renewal of regulations.
Delegates expressed hope that bottlenecks involving capital and tax policies will be cleared soon. At the same time, more efforts are also needed to lure greater investment and open vocational training courses.
It will welcome 30 high-profile producers from home and abroad like Nidec, Takako and Hanel in the second quarter. Once concluded, the project will draw some 3,000 domestic and foreign enterprises, generating jobs for 300,000 workers.-VNA
