Press conference announces NA’s seventh session outcomes

Hanoi (VNA) – National Assembly’s Secretary Generaland Chairman of the NA Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc convened a press conference inHanoi on June 14 to announce the outcomes of the just-concluded seventh sessionof the 14th legislature.

At the event, Vice Chairman of the NA Office Nguyen ManhHung said during its 20 working days, the law-making body adopted seven laws andgave opinions on nine bills; looked into legal enforcement in land planning,use and management in urban areas since the 2013 Land Law took effect till thelate 2018; conducted question-and-answer session on transportation,construction, security, social safety and order, culture, sports and tourism;and reviewed reports on socio-economic affairs and State budget, among others.

The laws passed include the Law on Prevention and Control ofHarmful Effects of Alcohol and Beer, the revised Law on Education, the revisedLaw on Execution of Criminal Judgments, the amended Law on Public Investment, theamended Law on Taxation Management, the Law on Architecture, the Law onamendments and supplements to several articles of the Law on InsuranceBusiness, and the Law on Intellectual Property.

The resolutions on entry to the International LabourOrganisation’s Convention No.98 and on law and ordinance building programmewere also approved.

Ministers of public security, construction, transport, and culture-sportsand tourism and heads of other sectors joined the question-and-answer session.

The legislature adopted resolutions on improving legalenforcement in land planning, use and management, and a supervisory programmeand establishment of an inspection group for legal enforcement in the fightagainst child abuse.

Legislators approved Chief Justice of the Supreme People’sCourt’s suggestion on appointing Maj. Gen Duong Van Thang, acting Chief Justiceof the Central Military Court, as Judge of the Supreme People’s Court.

According to NA Secretary General Phuc, lawmakers also saidyes to a ban on those found with ahigh alcohol content in their blood or breath from driving.-VNA
