Project to develop construction material for coastal, island localities

A project on developing construction materials to build facilities in coastal and island localities through 2025 has been approved by the Government, the Ministry of Construction has said.

Hanoi (VNA) – A project ondeveloping construction materials to build facilities in coastal and islandlocalities through 2025 has been approved by the Government, the Ministry ofConstruction has said.

According to a report reviewing the 10-yearimplementation of the national marine strategy through 2020 and with a visionto 2030, the total investment of 28 centrally-run cities and provinces makes up55-60 percent of the country’s total investment.

To encourage people to live on islands, ensuringtechnical infrastructure and material facilities is important. This will notonly help develop the economy but also defend the country’s territorial sovereigntyand security, protect maritime environment, and cope with climate change.

The project prioritises the use of onsitematerials such as cinders, gypsum from thermal power plants, fertilisers, andchemicals which are suitable with the environmental marine conditions. –VNA

Hanoi waives public transport fares during Tet holiday

During the same period, the Hanoi Traffic Operation Centre, in coordination with bus operators, will also waive fares on subsidised bus services. The programme will apply to 128 subsidised routes citywide over the nine days, with passengers granted tickets according to route pricing but paying no fare.
