Quang Ninh has additional sea and island tourism site

Quang Ninh (VNA) –
The People’sCommittee of northern Quang Ninh province has recognised Cai Chien communalisland in Hai Ha district as a provincial tourism site.

The site covers 15,545 hectares, including12,989 hectares of the water surface area.

There are three pristine beaches in the island,namely Cai Chien, Vung Bau and Dau Rong.

Lying in the east of the island, Dau Rong (dragon’shead) beach is considered the most beautiful with blue sea and more than 2km ofsandy stretches.
Cai Chien island is also popular for its fresh aquaticproducts.

In recent years, the number of tourists to Cai Chien has beenincreasing thanks to the untouched beauty of the island.

Local authorities have encouraged people to joinhands to keep the environment in the island clean, green and beautiful, andhave opened training courses on community-based tourism.

Dozens of households in the island have investedin homestay tourism with hundreds of rooms to serve holidaymakers.

Visitors can reach the island by ferry fromGhenh Vo wharf in Quang Dien commune. 

The tourism sector in the northern coastalprovince of Quang Ninh has been growing at a fast pace in recent years.

Quang Ninh is endowed with natural advantagesfor sea and island tourism. It has a coastline of more than 250 kilometres and morethan 2,000 islands and islets which account for two-thirds of the total numberin Vietnam.

It is home to popular destinations such as HaLong Bay, Bai Tu Long, Ha Long Bay National Park and some islands.

In particular, Ha Long Bay literally “descendingdragon bay”, was twice recognised as a World Natural Heritage site by UNESCO in1994 and 2000.

The bay spans 1,553 square kilometres andincludes 1,969 islands of various sizes. 
It features thousands of limestone karsts andislets in various shapes and sizes. The limestone in the bay has gonethrough 500 million years of formation in different conditions andenvironments. 

The geo-diversity of the environment has createdbiodiversity, including a tropical evergreen biosystem, oceanic and seabiosystem. 

In 2018, Ha Long Bay made it into the top 15Instagrammed global cruise destinations based on a survey of 1.8 million poststagged on various ships and ports by travel cruise site SeaHub.

Located 80 km from the mainland, Co To island is another attraction in QuangNinh. The island district comprises Co To Lon (large Co To island), Co To Be(small Co To island) and 15 smaller islands. 

Besides enchanting beaches, the island hasnatural forests, lighthouses, parks, wharves, fishing villages, bays and a rockgarden.

Located in Bai Tu Long Bay, Quan Lan Island inVan Don district has become an ideal destination in summer holidays thanks toits pristine beauty, clear blue seawater and fine white sand bank stretchingalong the green rows of casuarinas.

Last year, Quang Ninh hosted the NationalTourism Year 2018 under the theme “Ha Long-Heritage, Wonder, FriendlyDestination”. The province welcomed 12.3 million visitors, including 5.2million foreigners, and earned 24 trillion VND (1.03 billion USD) in tourismrevenue.

The operation of the Van Don International Airport inDecember 2018 is expected to help QuangNinh achieve its target of welcoming 15-16 million tourists, including 7million foreigners, by 2020 and 30 million arrivals, including 15 millionforeigners, by 2030.

Therefore, local authorities have been offering manyincentives to promote the launch of flights to the airport, the first of itskind invested by a private business in Vietnam.

Passengers on flights to Van Don can visit a number of localattractions including the complex of Yen Tu monuments and landscapes, the worldnatural heritage site of Ha Long Bay, and Bai Tu Long Bay free of charge within30 days since their arrival at this airport.-VNA
