Quang Ninh(VNA) – The closure segment of a temporary floating bridge over the Ka Longborder river was installed on October 16, connecting northern Quang Ninh’s MongCai city and Dongxing city of China.

The project started on January 19 with total investment of nearly 160 billionVND. The 114m-long and 12m-wide bridge has two lanes for vehicles and a load capacityof 60 tonnes.

The floating bridge is expected boost import-export activities between the twoborder cities and minimise the weather impact on goods transport. It willreduce cost of transportation and enhance the competitiveness of the pair ofMong Cai-Dongxing border gates, thereby contributing to the socio-economic developmentof the two localities.

The floating bridge,the first of its connecting the two cities, is scheduled to become operationalin late October.-VNA
