Children in the central province of Quang Tri had an opportunity to express their opinions and viewpoints on issues relating to their rights at a forum held in the province on July 18.

The forum was co-organised by the Quang Tri provincial Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, World Vision, the Plan International office in the province, and Saigon-Dong Ha Tourism JSC with the aim to help local children understand more about the Law on Protection, Care and Education for Children, as well as collect their ideas.

The children raised various issues at the event, for example the ban of storing pesticides, toxic chemicals and flammable substances in the house; and child marriages in some mountainous areas.

They appealed for more help to boarding school pupils in remote and mountainous areas.

They also asked questions about children suffering from trafficking, ill-treatment, accidents, and those affected by problems like HIV/AIDS and social evils.

At the event, officials from relevant agencies exchanged views with children, answered their questions and offered measures to solve the abovementioned issues.-VNA
