Reference exchange rate down 1 VND at week’s beginning

The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate at 23,636 VND/USD on March 6, down 1 VND from the last working day of previous week (March 3).

Hanoi (VNA) – The State Bank of Vietnamset the daily reference exchange rate at 23,636 VND/USD on March 6, down 1 VNDfrom the last working day of previous week (March 3).

With the current trading band of +/- 5%, theceiling rate applied to commercial banks during the day is 23,817 VND/USD andthe floor rate 22,454 VND/USD.

The opening hour rates at commercial banks fluctuatedvariably.

At 8:15am, Vietcombank listed the buying rate at23,530 VND/USD, and the selling rate at 23,900 VND/USD, both up 10 VND from theend of March 3.

On the contrary, BIDV raised the buying rates by10 VND to 23,570 VND/USD but reduced the selling rate by 10 VND to 23,870VND/USD.

During the week from February 27-March 3, thedaily reference exchange rate was up at the beginning of the week but turnedaround to follow a downward trend until Friday. It ended the week down 5 VND./.

Thailand is currently Vietnam's largest trading partner within ASEAN, while Vietnam ranks as Thailand's sixth-largest trading partner globally. Bilateral trade reached 22.07 billion USD in 2025, with both sides aiming to increase the figure to 25 billion USD in the coming years. Thailand also has 805 valid investment projects in Vietnam with a combined registered capital of 15.4 billion USD.

Deputy PM requests faster disbursement of ODA-funded projects

As of June 15, the disbursement rate for public investment funded by external sources had reached only 9.99% of the assigned plan. Although the figure was higher than in the same period last year, it remained well below the national average. Notably, one out of eight ministries and central agencies and 13 localities had yet to disburse any allocated capital.
