Reference exchange rate revised down at week’s beginning

The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate for the US dollar at 24,256 VND/USD on August 12, down 4 VND from the last working day of the previous week (August 9).

Hanoi (VNA) - The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate for the US dollar at 24,256 VND/USD on August 12, down 4 VND from the last working day of the previous week (August 9).

With the current trading band of +/- 5%, the ceiling rate applicable for commercial banks during the day is 25,469 VND/USD and the floor rate 23,043 VND/USD.

At major commercial banks, the opening hour rates fluctuated in different directions.

At 8:31am, Vietcombank listed the rates at 25,040 VND/USD (buying) and 25,380 VND/USD (selling), both up 70 VND from August 9.

Meanwhile, BIDV cut both rates by 20 VND, listing the buying rate at 24,950 VND/USD and the selling rate at 25,290 VND/USD./.
