Reference exchange rate up at week’s beginning

The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate for the US dollar at 24,577 VND/USD on February 17, up 15 VND from the last work day of the previous week.

Hanoi (VNA) - The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate for the US dollar at 24,577 VND/USD on February 17, up 15 VND from the last work day of the previous week.

With the current trading band of +/- 5%, the ceiling rate applicable for commercial banks during the day is 25,806 VND/USD and the floor rate 23,348 VND/USD.

At major commercial banks, the opening-hour rates saw decreases.

At 8:23am, Vietcombank listed the buying rate at 25,220 VND/USD and the selling rate 25,580 VND/USD, both down 50 VND from the February 14 morning session.

BIDV also cut both rates by 10 VND, listing the buying rate at 25,220 VND/USD and the selling rate at 25,580 VND/USD./.

PM urges acceleration of public capital allocation, disbursement

According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), Vietnam's total aquatic exports in the month reached 774 million USD, up 3% year-on-year. This increase was primarily driven by strong Chinese demand for premium fresh seafood products, including lobster, crab, clams, and snails, as consumers prepared for Lunar New Year celebrations.
