A grand ceremony to celebrate the 85th anniversary of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press Day will be held at the Friendship & Cultural Palace in Hanoi on the evening of June 21.

The winners of the 2009 National Press Awards will also be honoured on the occasion.

Many celebrations will be held across the country at every level to mark the day.

The details were announced by the Vietnam Journalists’ Association and the Ministry of Information and Communications at a press briefing in Hanoi on June 15.

Dinh The Huynh, Editor-in-Chief of the Nhan Dan or People’s Daily newspaper, who is also President of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, reported that a convention, which will include several generations of journalists, will be held at the Hanoi Opera House on June 17. Its theme will be ‘social and civil responsibilities of journalists’. In addition, a seminar on developing Vietnam’s revolutionary press will also take place on June 19./.
