Hanoi (VNA) –Vietnam’s Vu Thi Hang has been ruled out of the women’s 48kg wrestling event on August 17 by a recurring injury, leaving Nguyen Thi Lua as the last one of the Vietnamese delegation to compete at the Rio Games.

A report from Vietnam’s delegation at the Olympics said Hang’s back injury recurred and she was unfit for competition. This was confirmed by the Rio Games’ organising board’s health sub-committee.

Lua will compete in the women’s 53 kg event on August 18 (local time).

At the end of August 16, the 11th day of competition, the US led the overall medal table with 84 medals, including 28 golds.

The UK was second and China was third.

Vietnam was ranked 43th with one gold medal and one silver, both won by Hoang Xuan Vinh in the men’s shooting events.-VNA
