– The Republic of Korea (RoK) and the Philippines are organising a series of cultural events throughout 2019, including performances of K-pop music, as part of activities to celebrate the 70th founding anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

The decision was announced after leaders of the two countries came to an agreement at a bilateral summit last year that 2019 would be the RoK-Philippines year of cultural exchange.

The RoK’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism said a K-pop music performance is scheduled at the Mall of Asia Arena in the Philippine capital of Manila on March 7 as part of the events.

The programme will bring together famous musical artists such as the RoK’s NCT Dream, April, and Noir; and the Philippine rock band Silent Sanctuary.

Over the next few months, the Philippines’ National Committee of Culture and Arts will host the “Philippine Culture Days” programme in the RoK, while the RoK ministry will organise a film festival and a traditional Taekwondo martial arts festival, as well as handicrafts exhibitions in the Philippines. –VNA
