Hanoi (VNA)Retail sales in the Republic of Korea increased more than 9 percent in November from a year earlier, led by strong demand for products sold through online malls and convenience stores, Yonhap news agency reported, citing government data.

According to statistics of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the combined sales of 26 online and offline retailers stood at 10.68 trillion won (9.97 billion USD) last month, up 9.4 percent from a year ago.

Meanwhile, sales of 13 offline retailers rose 5.4 percent last month, the biggest gain since January.

The data also showed that among offline outlets, convenience stores showed the highest growth at 10.2 percent, and discount chains' sales remained flat, while department stores rose 8.5 percent.

Sales of 13 major online stores and marketplaces gained 16.7 percent on-year last month, according to the data.-VNA
