Pretoria (VNA) - The Republic of Rwanda is willing to cooperate with Vietnam towards furtherstrengthening the bilateral friendship between the two nations, President ofthe Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame has said.
He made the statement during a meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador to Tanzaniaand the Republic of Rwanda Nguyen Nam Tien, who presented his credentials to thePresident on October 27.
The Rwandan leader extended his warmest greetings to Party General Secretary and State PresidentNguyen Phu Trong, while highly valuing the increasing development relationshipbetween the two countries over the recent years.
He thankedVietnam for supporting former Foreign Minister of theRepublic of Rwanda Louise Mushikiwabo in her role as the Secretary Generalof the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF).
For his part, Ambassador Tien emphasised that2020 marks the 45th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations between thetwo countries.
He congratulatedthe government and people of Rwanda on remarkable achievements in promotingsocio-economic development and maintaining peace and security in the region andaround the world.
During his working trip, theVietnamese diplomat had a meeting on October 28 with Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Republic of Rwanda Michel Minega Sebera, during which the two sides discussed orientationsfor expanding trade and investment cooperation.
Previously, on October 26, while meeting withrepresentatives from the department of Asia and Pacific affairs under theForeign Ministry of theRepublic of Rwanda, Ambassador Tien and Rwandan officials proposedmeasures to promote the traditional friendship between the two countries aswell as between their foreign ministries./.
