Samsung Vietnam supports blood donation activities

Samsung Vietnam on February 15 launched a blood donation programme at its factories in response to Red Sunday 2023 and resolve the blood shortage in treatment and emergencies after Tet (Lunar New Year).

 Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - Samsung Vietnam on February 15launched a blood donation programme at its factories in responseto Red Sunday 2023 and resolve the blood shortage in treatment andemergencies after Tet (LunarNew Year).

The programme is part of a series of activities celebrating the15-year journey of Samsung since it officially implemented the “greatinvestment” plan in Vietnam.

Red Sunday is an annual blood donation programme implemented by Tien Phong (Vanguard) newspaper incollaboration with organisations nationwide.

Taking part in Red Sunday since 2018, Samsung Vietnam hasalways been evaluated as the leading unit in FDI enterprises participating inblood donation activities. They have made great contributions to the voluntaryblood donation movement in terms of the amount of blood donated annually, andin the spirit of voluntary blood donation which is spread among the company'semployees.

On this occasion, the blood donation programme was launched anddeployed at four facilities including Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV),Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen (SEVT), Samsung Display Vietnam (SDV),Samsung Research and Development Centre Vietnam (SRV) and is expected toreceive about 4,000 blood units.

Dr. Vu Duc Sinh, Deputy Director of the Central Institute ofHematology and Blood Transfusion, said: “The Central Institute of Hematologyand Blood Transfusion highly appreciates that Samsung Vietnam Complex is one ofthe few foreign enterprises that have co-operated with the Institute toorganise blood donation since the early years of establishment in Vietnam."

"The National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusionalso received financial support from the company for blood cancer patientsreceiving stem cell transplantation and blood disease treatment at theInstitute. The positive contributions of Samsung Vietnam Complex absolutelybring value to the social community, and is a typical example for othercompanies and businesses in Vietnam to follow.”

Since 2010, Samsung Vietnam has cooperated with the NationalInstitute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, the Steering Committee forVoluntary Blood Donation, the Red Cross associations of Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyenprovinces organise the annual blood donation programme called "Blood forVietnamese" with the participation of a large number of staff. To date,more than 100,000 blood units have been donated through these programmes,helping save the lives of hundreds of thousands of patients in need of bloodtransfusion.

Choi Joo Ho, President of Samsung Vietnam, said: “Over thepast 15 years, we have been honoured to accompany voluntary blood donationactivities in Vietnam, including the Red Sunday. Samsung Vietnam will do itsbest to contribute to the success of this meaningful event.”

Samsung Vietnam has been implementing many other communityprojects such as building and operating the Samsung Hope School insuch provinces as Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, Lang Son; donatingwheelchairs to people with disabilities; organise the Samsung Solve forTomorrow Contest; and Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) technology talentdevelopment project.

Showing its responsibility to the community, over the past decade,Samsung Vietnam has also made efforts to contribute to Vietnam's socio-economicdevelopment, especially in promoting exports, restructuring production,creating jobs and recently, elevating Vietnam beyond the role as a globalproduction base and becoming a top priority strategic base for Samsung'sR&D globally.

Currently, the Republic of Korea is making efforts as the host tothe World Expo 2030 in Busan. Through this, the RoK wishes to be able topresent a future picture based on high technology to the whole world. This isalso an opportunity for Samsung to bring high-tech products manufactured in Vietnamto the exhibition, thereby contributing to promoting the image of Vietnam andstrengthening the relationship between the two countries./.

Over 1.2 million students begin national high school graduation exam

Under the current examination format, candidates are required to complete the mandatory Literature and Mathematics tests, along with a combined test comprising two subjects selected from a range of options, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Foreign Languages, History, Geography, Technology-Industry, Technology-Agriculture, and Economics-Law. Students may also choose to take a foreign language different from the one studied at school.

Rare green sea turtle released back into the wild in Quang Tri

The green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas), locally known as vich, is a rare and protected species under Vietnamese law. It is also listed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as a species of conservation concern and is included in the appendices of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
