Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodia, the host of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 32), on April 18 decided not to charge food and accommodation services for sport delegations to the regional sporting event.

The decision was made during a meeting held on the same day by the National Committee for the SEA Games 32 and the 12th ASEAN Para Games of Cambodia (CAMSOC - CAMAPGOC), which was chaired by Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of CAMSOC - CAMAPGOC Samdech Tea Banh and Minister of Tourism and Permanent Vice Chairman of CAMSOC - CAMAPGOC Thong Khon.

Accordingly, participating delegations will not have to pay 50 USD per person a day in service fee for food and accommodation to the host country at the upcoming Games.

Speaking after the meeting, CAMSOC - CAMAPGOC Secretary General Vath Chamroeun said it is a highly exceptional and unprecedented decision in the history of SEA Games.

Cambodia is set to organise SEA Games 32 with 37 sports, and ASEAN Para Games 12 with 13 sports, which is scheduled to take place in May and June, respectively. The event is expected to attract over 11,000 athletes competing for medals.

With the slogan "Sports - Living in Peace", SEA Games 32 will take place from May 5-17 in the capital city of Phnom Penh and four other localities, including Siem Reap, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, and Kep./.
