Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam earned about 9 billion USD from exports ofaquatic products in 2018, an increase of 8.4 percent year-on-year, said ActingDirector General of Directorate of Fisheries Nguyen Ngoc Oai.
Of the figure, export revenue of tra (pangasius) fish hit 2.26 billion USD, up 26.4percent, Oai said at a conference on December 24 to review the Directorate’sperformance in 2018 and launch tasks in 2019.
According to the directorate, aquaticoutput is estimated to reach nearly 3.6 million tonnes this year, up 5.96percent from the previous year.
In 2019, the sector sets a target of raisingaquatic production value by 4.25 percent compared to 2018. Total aquatic outputis expected to hit 7.9 million tonnes, while export revenue rakes in 10 billionUSD, up 11.1 percent. -VNA
