Singapore (VNA) – Singapore Mint on June 5 launched three commemorative gold, silver and base-metal medallions to mark the historic US-Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) summit hosted by the Southeast Asian country.

Each medallion features a handshake between US President Donald Trump and DPRK leader Kim Jong Un, who are set to meet in Singapore on June 12.

Both countries will also have their national flags minted on the medallion.

The half ounce, fine gold medallion will cost 1,035 USD, while the base-metal version with nickel-plated zinc will be priced at 27 USD. The one-ounce fine silver medallion will be priced at 88 USD.

The reverse design of each medallion will feature a peace dove that embodies the significance of the summit to bring about world peace. It will also be minted with the national flowers of the US and the DPRK, which are the rose and magnolia sieboldii, respectively.

From June 5, the public can pre-order the medallions at Singaporean retail outlets and the e-store www.singaporemint.com.

The Republic of Korea’s Poongsan Hwadong company has been chosen as the exclusive distributor for international sales.

Last month, the White House’s communications agency issued a commemorative coin featuring President Trump and DRRK leader Kim and the national flags of both countries.-VNA
