According to the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the programme,with Temasek Foundation’s grant of about 305,000 SGD and MAS’scontribution of technical expertise, aims to strengthen the capabilitiesof leaders and mid-level officials from the CLMV central banks incentral banking, financial regulation and supervision.
Under the programme, some 190 participants from the CLMV central banksare expected to benefit from a series of training activities with thefirst 24 coming to Singapore this week.
Benedict Cheong, Chief Executive Officer of Temasek Foundation,expressed his hope that the new initiative will promote exchange ofideas between officials from the central banks in Cambodia , Laos ,Myanmar , Vietnam and Singapore .
It willprovide a start in strengthening cooperation among Singapore andAsian neighbours to build their banking, financial regulation andsupervision capabilities, he added.
MAS ManagingDirector Ravi Menon said that with the programme, Singapore would helpCLMV in fostering economic development in their countries and deepeningeconomic integration with ASEAN.-VNA
