SMS campaign to support poor people, AO/dioxin victims launched

A text message campaign to support poor people and Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin victims has been jointly launched by the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) Central Committee, the National Humanitarian Portal 1400 and the Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel).

Hanoi (VNA) – A text message campaign to supportpoor people and Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin victims has been jointly launched by the VietnamRed Cross Society (VRCS) Central Committee, the National Humanitarian Portal1400 and the Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel).

The campaign, running from December 15 to February 12, 2022,aims to ease difficulties facing the poor, AO/dioxin victims and pandemic-hitpeople ahead of the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival.

Mobile service subscribers can join the programme by texting‘TET’ to 1409. Each text message will contribute 20,000 VND (0.87 USD) to thefund.

In addition to sending text messages, donations can be transferredto the VRCS Central Committee’s bank account 120 1 00000 36656 at the Bank forInvestment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) or directly sent to its headquartersin Hanoi and representative office in HCM City.

The campaign has set a target to present at least 1.8million gift baskets to beneficiaries, especially during a peak time from January17 to 30 next year (from the 15th to 28th day of the last lunar month).

First launched in 2012, the text message campaign has helpedtens of millions of poor people and AO/dioxin victims, reflecting the country’ssolidarity and spirit of “the haves helping the have-nots”./.

“I love my fatherland” journey 2026 launched

The “I Love My Fatherland” journey will comprise seven stages linked to historical, cultural and revolutionary sites across the country. The journey will begin in Nghe An on May 16 to mark President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday, before continuing through Hue city, Tuyen Quang–Lung Cu Flag Tower, Dien Bien, Khanh Hoa, Ca Mau and Ho Chi Minh City, and concluding in Hanoi in October.
