Soc Trang, RoK firm cooperate in developing garment factory

Soc Trang(VNA) – Leaders of the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang had a working sessionon September 6 with representatives of Youngone Corporation from the the Republicof Korea (RoK) on the production and recruitment plan for its garment factory.

Under its plan, Youngone will build a factory covering 15ha at An Nghiepindustrial zone in An Hiep commune, Chau Thanh district. The project isexpected to be put into operation in March 2018, employing 8,000 staff andworkers.

Yonguk Lee, Project Director of the firm, said the corporation is running threefactories in the northern provinces of Nam Dinh, Bac Giang and Hung Yen,employing over 11,000 labourers.

The firm wishes to contribute to Soc Trang’s socio-economic development and jobgeneration for local residents after the project comes operational, Lee said,adding that a workshop, which covers 1,500 sq.m in Minh Chau residential area inSoc Trang city, is scheduled to become operational on September 20.

It needs about 500staff and workers.

Currently, theenterprise is providing Soc Trang city and Chau Thanh district with 100 sewingmachines for training courses for local labourers, he said.

Addressing the workingsession, Vice Chairman of the Soc Trang People’s Committee Le Thanh Tri saidthat the province will create optimal conditions for the factory to operate asscheduled.

He also pledged to workclosely with the corporation in making plan on housing for workers, whileassisting the firm in removing obstacles facing it during the projectimplementation.-VNA
