The annual workshop was organised by the VietnamUnion of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), Non-Governmental OrganisationInformation Centre, the Centre for Sustainable Rural Development and theInstitute for Development and Community Health – LIGHT.
Currently, the VUSTA has more than 900 scienceand technology organisations operating in various spheres.
The organisations have engaged in povertyreduction, community development and environmental protection activities wellas climate change adaptation, public healthcare improvement and HIV-AIDSprevention, along with promoting gender equality and supporting vulnerablegroups.
Participants pointed to difficulties, includingshortcomings in legal frameworks and a lack of financial resources.
They called on State agencies to refine policiesto develop social organisations while creating a legal framework, encouraginghealthy competition and improving their operational capacity.-VNA
