Thua Thien-Hue's Tram defended her title with nine points. With 8.5 points, Nguyen Thi Mai Hung from Bac Giang province and Nguyen Thi Thanh An from HCM City won silver and bronze medals, respectively.
On the men's side, Son from Kien Giang province won gold with 9.5 points. Tram's teammate, Nguyen Van Huy brought home silver medal with 8.5 points, while HCM City 's Dao Thien Hai received bronze medal with eight points.
The event, which opened in HCM City June 3, attracted nearly 200 chess players from 20 cities and provinces across the country.
This year's event, which will last until June 8, aims to choose the best chess players to compete in the 26th Southeast Games in Indonesia this November./.
