Son La (VNA) – Experience in trade union work was shared between the northern mountainous province of Son La and the northern Lao provinces of Houaphanh, Luang Prabang, Oudomxay, and Luang Namtha from May 13-15.
Chairwoman of Son La province’s trade union Hoang Ngan Hoan said that the exchange programme, held in the Vietnamese province, was organised to help realise the country’s people-to-people diplomacy and thus enhance solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos, and Son La and the northern Lao provinces in particular.
The event offers an opportunity for both sides to share experience and improve efficiency in trade union work, she added.
In the framework of the event, the provinces held talks and organised a training course on trade union work, during which they highlighted the socio-economic and defence-security situation in each country, and agreed to enhance exchanges as well as support each other in taking care of and protecting the rights of workers.
On the occasion, the Lao delegation went on a fact-finding tour to two grassroots unions in Moc Chau district.–VNA
