During a recent teleconference on the prevention and control of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said Vietnam has won the round in the fight against Covid-19, however, the whole country still needed to make efforts to prevent the epidemic from spreading.

This triumph is thanks to the efforts of the whole nation, and particularly credit belongs to medical staff on the frontline areas. For them, the Vietnamese Physicians’ Day (February 27) this year is particularly special.

For Doctor Ngo Dinh Phuong, who has not been home for two weeks since he started working at an isolation area at Phuc Yen General Hospital in Vinh Phuc province,  the Vietnamese Physicians’ Day this year is completely different.

Far from home, his nostalgia can hardly be put into words. But his willingness together other colleagues to treat patients has given him the upper hand.

Like Dr. Phuong, with 24 years at the Department of Infectious Diseases, this is the first time Nguyen Thi Oanh has been away from home for such a long time.

Although the epidemic situation in Vinh Phuc has shown positive signs, with more than 50 patients from the epidemic-hit area being under quarantine, the working spirit of the doctors here has remained strong since the early days of the outbreak.

Despite facing a number of difficulties, doctors in frontline areas are still determined to stay with their patients until the end of the epidemic./.
