Hanoi (VNA) - State President NguyenXuan Phuc attended an art performance organised in Hanoi on January 22 eveningby the Foreign Ministry to mark the arrival of the lunar New Year.

Foreign Minister BuiThanh Son affirmed achievements recorded in Vietnam’s foreign activities,including the work on overseas Vietnamese which made important and practicalcontributions. Activities by the community, especially their contributions tothe COVID-19 fight in the recent past, is a vivid manifestation of the traditionalpatriotism of the Vietnamese, he stressed.

For his part, PresidentPhuc affirmed that with the spirit of solidarity, a steadfast mettle, strongand creative acts, Vietnam has been successfully realising its dual goal ofcontrolling the pandemic and maintaining socio-economic stability.

Stressing that the workon overseas Vietnamese is enjoying special attention from the Party and State,the leader spoke highly of the work last year. In 2022, chances will cometogether with challenges, he said and expressed his hope that overseasVietnamese will maintain the spirit of Vietnam and keep their solidarity.

A new and better fortunewill come to Vietnam in the Year of the Tiger, the state leader affirmed.

Key Vietnamese Party official lays wreaths at monuments in Phnom Penh

This is the first official visit to Cambodia by Tu in his capacity as Politburo member and Permanent member of the CPV Central Committee's Secretariat. The visit takes place at a time of significant political and cultural importance, as Cambodia is preparing to celebrate its traditional New Year festival, Chol Chhnam Thmey. It also follows Vietnam’s successful organisation of the 14th National Party Congress and the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels, as well as the consolidation of its leadership apparatus and rollout of new strategic orientations.
