The consideration process for Thailand’s World Heritage Site nomination in Nakhon Si Thammarat will begin in 2015 by UNESCO, said the Fine Arts Department.

According to the Director-General of the Fine Arts Department Borvornvate Rungrujee, there are currently thousands of World Heritage Site nominations being processed prior to the consideration from the five International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) members.

He has said that all countries have to submit four English reports on the nominated sites for the consideration from February 1 to the end of January of next year, while the conclusion of the considerations will be decided in December.

Amendment in the details for each nominated sites will have to be completed within March of the following year, and the official announcement for the new World Heritage Sites will take place in June.

Regarding the nomination of the Phra Boromathat Chedi Stupa in Nakhon Si Thammarat province as the World Heritage Site, the nomination is in the documentation process and is scheduled to enter the consideration process in 2016, while the official endorsement is expected to take place in 2017, said the Fine Arts Department Director-General.-VNA
