Survey: Most Thai students afraid to work in other ASEAN countries

A recent survey by Chulalongkorn University has revealed that most of the Thai education personnel and students are afraid to work in other ASEAN countries, citing language as the barrier.
A recent survey by Chulalongkorn University has revealed that most ofthe Thai education personnel and students are afraid to work in otherASEAN countries, citing language as the barrier.

According to asurvey by Chulalongkorn University ’s Faculty of Education, 70-80percent of education personnel in Thailand have very little knowledge ofthe ASEAN Community, which is set to be established in 2015. Most donot know about government policies concerning the ASEAN integration.

ChulalongkornUniversity also stated that many educational institutions do notreceive any supporting budget or any clear policy to prepare them forthe ASEAN Community.

Meanwhile, eight out of 10 studentssurveyed said they are afraid to work in other ASEAN countries as theyhave a language barrier. On the contrary, most ASEAN students are eagerto work in Thailand .

Thailand currently draws in severalASEAN students in the vocational fields. The university expressed itsconcerns that if the ASEAN integration takes place in 2015, many Thais,especially new graduates, will become unemployed.-VNA/NNT

Indonesia plans task force to combat sale of counterfeit goods

The minister said that the report has prompted the Ministry of MSMEs to move toward the formation of a task force for the protection and empowerment of MSMEs in Indonesia, adding that the planned task force would be empowered to take action against those involved in the distribution and sale of counterfeit goods.
