Telecom sector revenue on target

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s telecomrevenue is estimated at 213.36 trillion VND (9.36 billion USD) in the first sixmonths of the year, excluding Viettel’s business overseas, equal to 47.41 percentof the plan for the year.

Total revenue of the IT industry in the first half of the year was estimated at31.34 billion USD, a year-on-year increase of about 15 percent, of which hardwareaccounts for over 91 percent.

By the end of June, the number of 2G subscriptions was 68.8 million and thenumber of 3G subscriptions was 54.2 million, according to the Ministry ofInformation and Communications.

The number of wired broadband Internet subscribers continues to increase, withmore than 10.11 million subscribers.

Export turnover of electronics, computers and components within the first sixmonths reached 7.59 billion USD, up 12.36 percent over the same period lastyear.

The Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) reported a profit of 2.39trillion VND in the first half of the year, reaching 54.5 percent of thegroup’s annual plan. The figure represents an increase of 15 percent over thesame period last year.

The group’s revenue reached 68 trillion VND, equaling 47.3 percent of theannual target and equal to 106 percent compared to the same period last year.

With regards to spam, VNPT blocked more than 221,000 spam messages in June, anaverage of 7,300 messages per day.

The total number of blocked subscribers was 2,200, equivalent to 74 subscribersper day. The rate of blocked spam messages reached 90 percent, online newspaperbaotintuc.vn quoted a representative of VNPT as saying.

The total revenue of the Viettel Group was 117.7 trillion VND in the first sixmonths, achieving 48.7 percent of the year’s plan, and profit before tax forthe group was 21.47 trillion VND, paying 19.9 trillion VND to the State budget.

Viettel’s global subscriber number is approximately 100 million worldwide, ofwhich 61 million are domestic and more than 30 million are overseas.

In order to develop network infrastructure, Viettel now has a modern,synchronous and complete network infrastructure with 350,000 km of fiber opticcable, five national backbones and six international backbone lines. The numberof 2G stations is 25,000, 3G is 35,000 and 4G is 36,000.

The country also successfully launched 4G services, with Viettel the firstoperator to provide high-speed mobile internet to customers.-VNA

Vietnam Airlines to launch direct Hanoi–Amsterdam service on June 16

Under the plan, the Hanoi–Amsterdam route will commence operations on June 16, 2026, with an expected frequency of three return flights per week using modern wide-body Airbus A350 aircraft.
