Thai Binh (VNA) – The northern province of Thai Binh is striving to eliminate all temporary and dilapidated houses by June 30, 90 days ahead of its initial schedule.

Local authorities are mobilising resources to accelerate home construction and renovation for poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged families eligible for government support. The province’s "300 days of joint effort to eliminate substandard housing" campaign has driven significant progress.

Among the beneficiaries is 77-year-old Mai Thi Gai from Vu Lac commune, Thai Binh city. With 110 million VND (over 4,000 USD) in aid, she built a new 30sq.m home after years of living alone in a deteriorating house following the passing of her husband and son.

Vu Duc Tien, Chairman of the Vu Lac commune People's Committee, noted that five local families need new or renovated homes. The government has encouraged community members to donate workdays, reducing costs and expediting construction.
