Thai people urged to strictly follow COVID-19 guidelines in New Year celebrations

Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on December 14 urged the Thai people to strictly adhere to social distancing and other health guidelines against COVID-19 when joining activities to celebrate the upcoming New Year.

Hanoi (VNA) - Thailand's Deputy PrimeMinister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on December 14 urgedthe Thai people to strictly adhere to social distancing and other healthguidelines against COVID-19 when joining activities to celebrate the upcomingNew Year.

The authorities will not stop people from organising or participating in NewYear celebrations and countdown events, but people will be required to strictlyobserve disease prevention measures such as checking temperature, wearing facemasks, washing their hands with alcoholic gel and literally keeping a distanceamong themselves, Anutin said.

Meanwhile, the minister also said authorities of the northeastern provinceNakhon Ratchasima, where a big concert was held in vicinity of Khao YaiNational Park over the weekend, are yet to take legal action against theconcert organizers for extending the open air performances by eight hours.

According to the minister, many of the concert's audience failed to wear facemasks and ignored the social distancing rule./.
