Thai PM requests testimony postponement

Thailand’s caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has requested a postponement of her testimony over her alleged violation of the constitution in connection with the transfer of personnel several years ago.

“The Nation” quoted Constitutional Court chiefspokesman Pimol Thammapitakpong as saying that Yingluck's lawyersubmitted the petition to the court requesting her defence statement bepostponed 15 days from April 18.

However, the court is yet to decide whether it accepts her request or not, he said.

Earlier this month, the court accepted the case which was filed by agroup of senators who argued that Yingluck’s replacement ofthen-national security chief Thawil Pliensri – a supporter of theopposition party violated the constitution.

The case came afterthe Thai Supreme Administrative Court in March ordered Yingluck toreinstate Thawil, saying his transfer was unlawful.-VNA
