Thailand, Laos mark 50 years of electricity sharing

Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – Thailand's Minister of Energy Siri Jirapongphan has joined Lao Minister of Energy and Mines Khammany Inthirath at a ceremony to mark the 50th anniversary of the first high power line between the two countries. 

The ceremony titled “50 Years of Thai-Lao Energy Relations: Stable” celebrates 50 years since Thailand and Laos began sharing power through a high powered electricity connection. It took place in Talad Tah Sadej community of Nong Khai province. 

On the Thai side, participants donned traditional Thai clothing and gave alms by the riverside, devoting their merit to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

An exhibition was also unveiled detailing the area. It will be open for the public until December 16.-NNT/VNA
