Thailand is likely to hold a new general election on July 20 or July27, an Election Commission (EC) member said on April 16.
If so, the Thai parliament will convene in September and a newgovernment will be formed in October, Somchai Srisutthiyakorn, who is incharge of election management, said on Facebook.
The EC is scheduled to meet representatives of 70 political parties onApril 22 to gather opinions on the new election date, he said, addingthat the commission and the government might meet by the end of thismonth to discuss this issue.
According to Somchai,multiple measures will be adopted to secure candidate registration sothat there should be no reasons for the new election to be nullifiedlike the Feb. 2 election.-VNA
