Thailand ready for digital TV auction

Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) is ready to the auction of the long-awaited digital television broadcast licenses at the end of this month.
Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission(NBTC) is ready to the auction of the long-awaited digital televisionbroadcast licenses at the end of this month.

Accordingto Thakorn Tantasith, NBTC’s secretary general, on October 9-11, theagency will meet with 33 television network operators who have boughtbidding documents, in order to clarify the details of the biddingprocedure.

The application period has been set forOctober 28-29 and the names of qualified bidders will on announced onDecember 2. The auction is scheduled to take place before December 14,Thakorn said.

Fierce competition is expected as biddersare aiming for a share of more the than 100 billion THB advertisingrevenues product owners spend on Thai television network each year.-VNA
