Top legislator attends Quang Ninh Party organisation’s congress

Politburo member and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan attended the 15th Party organisation’s congress of northern Quang Ninh province on September 26, during which she lauded efforts it has made to become one of Vietnam’s leading localities in terms of economic growth, provincial competitiveness, administrative reform and IT application.

Quang Ninh (VNA) – Politburo member and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi KimNgan attended the 15th Party organisation’s congress of northernQuang Ninh province on September 26, during which she lauded efforts it hasmade to become one of Vietnam’s leading localities in terms of economic growth, provincial competitiveness, administrative reform and IT application.

To achieve highergrowth, Ngan requested Quang Ninh to continue renewing its ways of thinking and doing,speeding up economic restructuring in combination with growth model change,concentrating on services, hi-tech industry and agriculture, and supportingindustry, and increasing support for start-ups.

The province shouldbring into full play its potential and advantages to create new motivations forgrowth, while using resources appropriately and effectively to achievesustainable development, and promoting connectivity in the key northern economiczone.

It is also necessaryto soon complete the making of the province’s planning for 2021-2030 with avision to 2050 in accordance with national and regional planning, and avoidoverlappings in planning.

She also noted that Quang Ninh need develop high-quality human resources andskilled workers to meet rapid economic development requirements, andinvest more in education and training to make 15 percent of its educationalinstitutions, which have yet to meet national standards, to achieve thestandards by 2025.

Due attention has to bepaid to improving the investment and business climate, she said, highlightingthe importance of increasing provincial competitiveness and creating a healthycompetitive environment for all economic elements to develop.

Ngan also urged the provinceto pay more attention to mountainous areas, carry out social welfare policiessynchronously, harmonise urbanisation and new-style rural area building, andcontinue speeding up administrative reform to better serve local people.

The NA Chairwomanhighlighted the importance of ensuring defence-security, maintaining nationalborder security, staying ready to effectively respond to non-traditionalsecurity challenges, and ensuring social order and safety.

She also asked thelocality to intensify Party building and rectification, and well conduct personnelwork to select competent officials.

Over the past fiveyears, Quang Ninh has experienced high and sustainable growth, with an averageannual growth rate of 10.7 percent. Average GRDP per capita is estimated at 6,700USD in 2020, two times higher than the country’s average figure./.
