Tra fish exports to the UK hit 46 million USD last year, an increase of 13.9 percent against 2014, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

Hanoi (VNA) – Tra fish exports to the UK hit 46 million USD last year, an increase of 13.9 percent against 2014, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

The figure accounted for 3 percent of total tra fish export turnover.

This was the highest growth rate among markets importing Vietnamese tra fish. The UK ranks third among importers of Vietnamese tra fish in the European Union (EU), after the Netherlands and Spain .

According to statistics from last year, the average import price of tra fish and other catfish in the UK was between 3.11 and 3.82 USD per kilogramme, higher than in other EU markets, such as Germany , Belgium , Finland and France .

Vietnam earned 6.57 billion USD from seafood exports last year, according to VASEP. Of the figure, tra fish was one of the main earners with a value of 1.6 billion USD.-VNA
